Space City Tap Fest

The studio I work at put on a HUGE tap festival this weekend. A lot of preparation went behind it, and I'd say that it was a success! It meant a lot of extra hours though.... even Jon came and directed traffic for them!
Don't we look official?
I worked all day, then had to go back that night and help out with the "Tap Jam"... something that I had never experienced before! It was really cool!
Everyone gathers...
and makes a circle...
Music is put on, and you just go around the circle taking turns tapping! It's pretty cool!
Jason Samuels Smith was one of the guest artists at the tap fest.... He's a pretty big name in the tap world. He was the understudy of Savion Glover and is the only tapper to have ever won an Emmy Award for his choreography! He was phenomenal!

AND hangin' out with some co-workers...
Glad the crazy weekend is over... now onto another week... *sigh*

An Evening with President Eyring...

What? For real? An evening with this man?
Hahaha that's what we thought, too! We were called as Seminary teachers (for our buildings Home Study program... which means we don't have to wake up at 5am!) and at our first inservice meeting we saw this "EVENING WITH PRESIDENT EYRING" on the calendar. "We have the best calling EVER!!!" we thought to ourselves.
But as the evening drew near... we realized that it was a broadcast. Hahaha anyway- it was still a good night. The CES fed us dinner which was more like a wedding reception! Just look at these centerpieces!

The food was delectable...
And the message was good (of course)

Yay for being seminary teachers!

Free Food Day!

Seriously, who can argue with free food? Not I!
Besides Christmas- IHOP Free Pancake Day is definitely the next best holiday. We went last year- and have decided to now make it a tradition... we were there right at 7 am, along with our partners in crime- Scott, Kim and Addie!
I don't think Jon told them to smile before he snapped the pic...
IHOP for breakfast, lunch and dinner? Anyone? Anyone?
Well we almost did that... but realized that Jack-In-The-Box was giving away sandwiches with the purchase of a drink... we jumped on that one, too!

Hooray for a day of FREE FOOD!

Hair Cut Time

There comes a time in one's life...
when you always feel like your hair looks like this...
and your husbands hair looks like this...

And you know it's time to just chop it all off!
So that's what we did this weekend :)

Life couldn't be better :)

Valentines Weekend!

Ah, love is in the air. I don't care if you hate Valentine's Day... one day you'll love it.
It's an excuse to spoil someone, and to BE spoiled...
(breakfast in bed with chocolate chip pancakes!)
 buy gifts...
  eat chocolate...
and go out to eat! (Carrabba's MmMMMmmmm...)
Kuz let's face it... if there weren't holidays- Jon and I would never go out. We're too cheap... but thankfully there are holidays, which just gives us one more reason to party!
(like we needed any more...)
We hosted a Murder Mystery Party at our house...
Here's Wey- the Pilot and Kim- the Stewardess
Mary- Journalist who loves a good scandal and Khover- British Spy
The Duke- a duke and Idelle- wayward Princess
Mal- the American gangster and Barbara- French perfume/party girl
Jean-Pierre our conductor and Belinda- the dress maker
The murder mystery was tons of fun- and how can you NOT have a good time with all this food and chocolate fondue?
We have MORE of these Murder Mystery games so we'll definitely have to do another one :)

Boys and Girls

All I'm trying to say is that boys and girls are different... I finally have figured that one out.
How is it that Jon and I live the same amount of days, but at the end of the week he has 3 stacks of laundry and I have 8? Baffling...
And he says I have too many clothes... psh...

House of Blues

So one of my co-workers invited Jon and I to come watch her friends play at the "House of Blues"... SOOO thinking we could broaden our cultural roots (hahaha) we went! It was cool to see some of Houston's local aspiring artists...

Dimitri's Rail...
Their lead guitar player played his solos with his teeth.
I taught him everything he knows....

 Versecity...
Your average teenage, punk rocker group
and the Jud Johnson Band...
It was their CD Release Party and they were really good! They have a saxophone!
They're claimed to be the "Next Dave Matthews Band"... hmmm...
Unfortunately by the time they get on stage, I wasn't feeling so good and had to leave early... And have thus been sick all weekend. Lame.
BUT now we're more cultured! Definitely one of those things that you can say you've done... but don't want to do them again necessarily :)

Stick it to the man!

Every semester brings that expected, yet unexpected, sum of money that you have to fork out for textbooks. I was reading about it the other day, and the average mark-up for textbooks in your normal college bookstore is 900%!!! Sickening really....
The total price of Jon's textbooks this semester was over $700 in the bookstore
But he bought them all online- total price was $150.
Way to stick it to the bookstore man...
