It's Been A While!

Do people really read blogs anymore?
It seems that there are so many ways to stay updated in people's lives,
that blogs are superfluous...
Well anyhow-
it's been a while since I blogged last,
and of course lots of things have happened.
Sweet things,
and sad things.
Baby girl has grown into a vibrant, stubborn, sweet and independent 8-month old.

Jon is loving his new job.

I am loving my new job.

Life for us is really good.
Yet...
in the past year,
I've had three friends have to bury their children.
A lot of tears. A lot of hugs. A lot of prayers.
I can't help but think "Why?"
Sometimes I wonder,
"Why have hope? Why love at all when losing a loved one can hurt so bad?"
And for right now...
I still don't have answers.
 And that's ok.
Life can still be wonderful.
Life can still be good.
Even with holes in our hearts.

Thirty Days Hath September...

I signed up to take the GRE.
That's right- I have this crazy idea that I want to go back to school.
Each night, I get a math tutorial from Jon... which usually ends up in tears and frustration.
(Jon of course is the one crying...)
I don't think I've taken a college math class since 2004.
Yeah- it's bad.

Enter blogging break.
Something that requires minimal brain cells, perfect!

September has been good to us.
I mean- how could life NOT be good with this guy around?
September brought a fair share of pool parties-
because yes, it's still quite warm.
It started with Labor Day and cousins.
I think Mondays should ALWAYS be a holiday.
Seminary pool party!
Pool party with our clogging family!
Pool with friends at a resort north of Houston!
September brought lots of free food...
September brought Friday night lights and football, football, football!
September brought time with friends...
September brought fun with the youth at our church!
AND September brought cooler weather.
Psych!
Fooled you.
Until then- we burn the pumpkin candle and pretend like it's Fall.
Goodbye September!

*Blessings*

You know when you have one of those days where it seems like everything in the world just goes your way?
They don't come often enough...
But today was one of those days.

First off- we woke up to a cool, breezy Houston... it was 58 degrees this morning.
Beautiful.
Definitely a blessing.

A couple days ago I noticed my Utah Drivers License was expiring in one week.
So I went to the DMV today to get a new license...
In and out in one hour.
Not bad for a government office in the 4th largest city in the nation.
Definite blessing.

My cousin and his wife moved to Houston today.
It's so nice to have some family close...
AND they bought me Chipotle for helping them move their stuff.
Definite blessing.

Jon has been needing surgery for the past two years.
We've put it off and off because we were afraid of the costs.
We finally decided to go do a pre-op appointment today and guess what?
Jon gets his surgery for free... FREE!
Saving us thousands of dollars.
HUGE blessing.

And to top it off-
I didn't have to work today.
(Although I do have to work Saturday... lame.)
But blessing, nonetheless.

For all the crummy days out there-
it sure helps to have one of these days once in a while :)
