Some interesting moments from teaching this past month!
10.
We've been on lockdown quite a few times this year.
Makes me nervous.
Students bringing weapons to school is more and more rampant.
A few weeks ago we had a student shoot himself in the head.
I've never felt unsafe at school... but it does worry me what people are capable of.
What is the world coming to?
9.
Teenagers are full of drama, of course.
Overhearing the drama one day I picked out this great two liner...
"I love my mama, I really do. But I DISLIKE her to DEATH!"
8.
"Mrs. Brame, how long have you and your husband been married?"
"Almost four years..."
"FOUR YEARS?! Wow.... no one in my family has been married that long!"
So sad :(
7.
The hispanic girls and the black girls don't mix well in my classes.
They don't mix at all quite frankly.
I was talking with a group of hispanic girls one day as they were working on their choreography and asked them to go show it to another group.
"Oh no Miss we can't do that. They don't like us."
"What? Why?"
"Haven't you noticed them making fun of us during class?"
"No...."
"Well- black girls don't like Hispanic girls."
"I'm sorry!"
"Oh we don't care! We, at least, have real hair!"
I don't care who you are- that's funny!
6.
This girls weave fell out while playing "Just Dance" on the Wii during finals week.
She threw it away in my trash- and I told her we had to take a picture.
"No Miss- you're gonna make me look ghetto!"
Why yes.
That's the point.
5.
My Dance 2 classes explored the way Dance and Media are connected this past semester...
their final project was to make a commercial incorporating dance.
Some were better than others...
but this one makes me laugh hard every single time.
Love it.
4.
We had a "Christmas" luncheon the last day of school for teachers.
I was thinking it would be ham, mashed potatoes, or the likes.
It was Texas BBQ.
Sometimes Texans still crack me up.
I swear they have BBQ sauce running through their veins.
3.
Explaining their final...
"And you will respond to the questions and write a minimum of EIGHT COMPLETE sentences."
"Eight complete sentences? Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh! Mrs. B! That's too much! Who do you think we are?!?!?!"
If you can't write eight sentences... I seriously worry about your future.
2.
"Mrs. Brame what's your first name?"
"Why?"
"Because you just look like a Nancy to me...."
1.
"Mrs. Brame.... will you adopt me?"
Of course I will sweetheart.
