Fun in the Sun

Well after a couple dreary weeks of rain, we finally had a day of sun! And when that day happens to fall on a Saturday- you just can't let it go to waste!
Audio book by the pool...
Naps by the pool...
And this lil' guy even joined us, too... (it's a snail if you can't tell...)
Then off to the park- for free Shakespeare and a picnic!
Taming of the Shrew...
We're baking! That 90 degree weather was toasty!
So we found some shade...
And then enjoyed Henry V... (Stefan was in it!)
Heads hurt a little bit from all that Shakespeare (I may have dozed once or twice... don't tell!) But the sun sure felt good! I love all of Houston's free activities!

Clogging Performance

We joined this clogging group, Collective Sound Cloggers, back in September.
They had a performance in Dallas- canceled due to rain.
Performance in November- canceled due to rain.
So it wasn't any surprise that it was raining today... we DID have a performance after all.
BUT this being Houston- and the weather changing faster than you can say "Stuckafeatherinhishatandcalleditmacaroni"... it cleared up.
The stage was a LITTLE wet... but we made it through :)
Our fearless director, Lola
The group
And we dance!
I have no explanation for these faces...
And that's all for now! We have another performance in San Antonio in 2 weeks, woot woot!

Barbecuin' Time!

Jon has a barbecue- so we thought that we should put it to good use! Especially since the weather is so nice! Sooooo we invited some friends over for a barbecue/pool party.
Nicole Caywood and Jackson
Jon our barbecue master
Scott, Addie, Kim and Amanda
(P.S. Amanda I love your face!)
Kim and Addie
The gang
After the party we headed over to the Miller Outdoor Theater... It's a huge amphitheater in downtown Houston's Hermann Park and ALL the shows there are free!
We got tickets so we got to have a seat- but there is also lawn space where everyone can camp out for the show.
The play was put on by ALL youth and they were AMAZING! I really was so impressed...

Legends of Zelda...

Sooo... we just got back from "Enrichment"... but not really "Enrichment" because now they are referred to as an "Additional Relief Society Meeting" which is just a mouthful and quite ridiculous... but ANYWAY I digress. I say "we" kuz Jon signed up to baby-sit. I was kind of upset that he had signed up kuz that meant I actually had to GO... and the topic was Genealogy... Seriously Jon? Couldn't you have picked a DIFFERENT enrichment to babysit?
Anyway- I kind of have this bad taste in my mouth when I hear the word genealogy... I think of old people at computers or worse yet- old people looking at microfilm. I cringe... BUT I went... and it was actually good! It should have been called "Genealogy in OUR day" kuz they talked about blogging and other great topics- which I can handle.
SOO since I'm not so good at keeping a journal- I think I will just continue to let my blog be my journal... and that's my excuse for 1) Blogging so much and 2) Lazy journal keeping.
THUS if I were writing in a journal... I would probably talk about this-
Jon downloaded old school "Legends of Zelda" onto our Wii. I find it absolutely hilarious to find him sitting in the living room like this... throwing swords and boomerangs at ghosts, snakes, little red balls of slime, goblins...AND all the while listening to old, creepy, digitized, and oh-so repetitive Nintendo music.
But whatever keeps a boy happy while I record our life together ;)

Bring on the beaches of Costa Rica!!

A good April weekend...

What a great weekend! It's not often that we actually get out and spend MONEY on a date!! We kinda splurged this weekend....
So there is this new restaraunt in town called the "Spicy Pickle"... seeing that pickles are kind of on my "Things I Love Most List" we HAD to go check it out!... plus we had a coupon ;)
Pretty darn good!
Then it was off to Comedy Sportz! (Yes, another coupon) Who knew that Provo would feel so close to home? We loved it!!
Saturday was spent with my old mission companion, Laura Brown (Guthrie) and her husband... who ALSO served in my mission!
A little Mexican fiesta...
AND then a little 3D IMAX adventure...
We never been lookin' sooooo good!
And I MUST say- that it was WELL worth the money. This show was AMAZING!!! And yes... I do want a pet dragon now ;)

New Bike!

WELL- Jon is the proud owner of a new bike.
If you don't remember what happened to his last one... click here.
It really all came down to this...
Do I want a dead husband on the side of the road after another bike accident?
Or do I want to drive down Houston's Main Street at 5pm everyday to pick him up?
Did you not read the title of the post?
We got him a bike ;)
I'm pretty sure he's glad to be rid of the womens bike that's 20 times too small for him that my boss let him borrow. I think the rides home should be a little easier now that he can fully extend his leg.
That's just my guess though... :)

Easter AND General Conference with the Brames!

A bunch of Brames came down to Houston to visit us this past weekend! We picked everyone up on Thursday... via three different trips to the airport... and then the partying began!
Friday we went down and checked out Galveston. We had a blast at the beach!
I shall call him Squishy and he shall be mine and he shall be my Squishy. Come on, Squishy Come on, little Squishy.
Ow. Bad Squishy, bad Squishy.
Playing in the waves!

All wet and stinky from playing in the gulf of Mexico...
Oh Mr. Sandman... bring me a dream!
Look at those freckles, how cute.
Then we took a ride on the Galveston ferry over to Bolivar Island... there isn't much there on the other side because of Hurricane Ike- so we just stayed on and came right back! ha! BUT we DID see crazy birds and lots of dolphins!
This pic is just funny- everyone is digitizing...
That evening we had a delicious barbecue, and then headed over to Minute Maid Stadium for an
Astro's game!
(Jon's friend Chun Chen came with us!)
And of course- Friday night fireworks...
We spent ALL day Saturday by the pool, listening to General Conference. I'm convinced that listening to Conference while soaking in the sun IS the correct and only way to do it ;)
After Priesthood session- we all went out to dinner for some barbecue, yum yum...

We had Egg Wars- of course. I've been playing this game for as many Easters as I can remember. Even though a "Stone" tradition- the Brame family thoroughly enjoyed it. You take two of your dyed eggs- and in a game of double-elimination, you roll eggs toward each other in hopes of crushing your opponent.
Jon's dad, Mike was our 2010 winner! Congrats!!
And of course, Easter dinner- complete with ham and funny colored deviled eggs :)

HAPPY EASTER and thanks for coming to visit Brames!
