Happy Birthday to me!

Yeah, yeah I had a birthday. My little sisters have already informed that I'm an old fart/old lady. They're so sweet :) But yes- it was the big 25. When I was little... I really imagined myself having at least one kid by this point... but alas.. not any yet! It's in fact quite the opposite- I found out today that I get to have a tumor removed that's found a home on my left ovary. Joy.
But back to my birthday!!
It all started Sunday when I thought we were just eating dinner at a friends house- BUT after dinner, out came cupcakes and presents! They had sneakily turned our dinner party into a birthday party. I love it when birthdays last all week.
Wednesday rolled around and I had to work and Jon had to take a huge test (that pretty much determined whether he is competent to be a PhD student or not! Kind of a big deal...) so it was kinda low key....but at least Jon wasn't in CHINA and there WERE presents! Jon wrapped them by throwing blankets over them.. a very nice touch.
It's a jewelry box! The biggest jewelry box ever! Just what I needed!
What's under this blanket?
A card from Jon's fam!
Wait, the jewelry box was from Jon's family! Sooo... what did you get me Jon?
Behold blanket number 3...
I found an envelope... that was addressed from Apple... this is me giving Jon the "You didn't!" face...
But where IS the Apple merchandise? Is it behind the couch?
Under the bed?
In the closet?
C'mon! In a one bedroom apartment there aren't THAT many hiding places!
Oh wait... in the bathroom?
In the bathroom closet! Behind the pillows!
This is one happy girl!
I've been waiting my WHOLE life for this moment!
Wow, sooooo cool.
My cute husband made us dinner (kuz the Macbook broke the bank!)... while I played around on the new toy and watched American Idol.
Behold our playing...
And later that day I received a box from MY fam!
Thanks so much!
Now onto bigger things... like having surgery.... Ugh.

Beautiful San Antonio

Wow! Why do we live in Houston, again? San Antonio is obviously the more beautiful city!
We headed over to San Antonio Friday morning for a weekend of clogging annnnnnd so much more :)
We stayed at Days Inn...
Which was the cheaper alternative to where our clogging team was staying. APPARENTLY Teddy Roosevelt and all his rough riders stayed where they were at. I guess that's why they charge extra ;) But they did have cool phone booths...
Anyway- back to San Antonio. First stop, the ALAMO!
The sun was sooo bright- and so hot. Bleh. But this tree was cool... oh yeah- and so was the Alamo.
And I think they told us to "Remember the Alamo" at least 26 times.
We stumbled upon this mall... always a good thing :)
And then got ready to dance in the 100 degree, 95% humidity weather. Felt so good.
Here's where we danced! Look familiar? Watch Miss Congeniality...
No one fell into the river, luckily ;)
After the show- all sweaty and gross!
Ok so I know our costumes aren't the greatest...
But at least we don't have to wear this...
Or this...
Or this!
We ate great Mexican food ALL weekend!
Saturday morning we traipsed up to North San Antonio and found the temple!
Then came back into town for a boat ride through the Riverwalk... I felt like I was in Disneyland.
A watered down version of Splash Mountain... no pun intended ;)
Next- a trolley ride...
Wandering around the Market Square...
Time out for my little boy to play on the playground :)
More Mexican food on the Riverwalk...
The women on the team just LOVE Jon! (I think being the only boy has something to do with it...)
They pitched in and bought him this hat.
Now I have my own Davey Crockett... I'm so lucky.
And we danced some more. Saturday was a whopping 75 degrees with a light breeze. Now THAT felt good!
ANNNND... Then we drove home. And yes, we did stop at Buc-ee's. And yes, we did use the restrooms.
Pure beauty.

Family Night Bike Ride

Despite the popular belief (of my family, but mostly my Dad) that Houston is hot, humid, rainy, and miserable all the time- Houston does have it's moments of glory!
In fact- nine months out of the year are rather pleasant and it's only those three in the middle that people should evacuate to Utah. I was worried that May would turn Houston into summer- but we've still had some really nice days. Last night was one of those, which meant time for a bike ride :)
Yeah... Jon's wearing a rock climbing helmet... it works, right?
My rusty bike- I guess that's what happens in humidity...
Here we go!
On the road...
Who knew after a year and a half of marriage that we'd still like doing things together! ;)
Hahaha
May Houston always be cool and dry... psh ... yeah right.
