It's Beginning to Look A Lot Like Christmas!

Well... at the Brame's house it is!

It doesn't necessarily FEEL like Christmas outside... although today the high was 60. 

I wore a jacket.

That's pretty chilly for these southern folk.

I digress...

I have a confession... our Christmas decorations are out and up, we've been listening to Christmas music for weeks now, and as I type I'm sipping hot chocolate and we're about to watch "Elf".

It's ok- judge us if you will.

But here us out...

We love Thanksgiving! 

And by no means want to "down play it" or whatever folks accuse us of.

BUT there is NO Thanksgiving music!

We leave two weeks after Thanksgiving to visit family

(which is not EVEN enough time to enjoy Christmas decorations)

And we own one Thanksgiving decoration....

So what is one to do?

I say... "Be thankful for what we have and put up Christmas decorations!"

(See we're being "thankful")

And really... what's better?

Being thankful for a pilgrim/indian dinner?

 (which is debatable as to whether it "really" even happened... according to some historians)

OR

Being thankful for Christ's birth?

I'm just sayin'... ;)

But really- if we HAD Thanksgiving decorations... and we were gonna be around to enjoy our Christmas decos... we would have waited... well... maybe.

AND what it boils down to is this-

 putting Christmas decorations up before Thanksgiving makes us happy. 

BUT if putting up Christmas decorations after Thanksgiving makes YOU happy

then we're ALL happy and life is rainbows and daisies.

On a side note... we saw this nastiness driving down the freeway today!

We're pretty sure that Hannah Montana was inside...

Christmas Concert!

Sooo a while ago, Jon was talking to me about how he misses singing.
He'd been involved in Men's Chorus at BYU, which he LOVED!
And he's the ward choir director... but that doesn't exactly means he gets to sing.
Being the good wife that I am...(psh!)
I looked up choirs in Houston for him to sing with.
And he's joined THIS group-
A Barbershop Choir (made up of mostly old men....)
BUT he loves it.
ANNNND they're having a Christmas Concert on Dec. 4!
You all should come!

To the Farm!

What do you get when you drive 40 miles west of Houston?

A whole lotta fun :)

Going to the farm just seems like an essential autumn thing to do...

so naturally- I begged Jon to go.

It's mostly geared towards kids... which meant it was perfect for us!

We got lost inside the corn maze...

But not really kuz Jon could see over the corn :)

Took a hayride...

Out to their Christmas tree farm...

AND punkin patch.

Jon and the pretty sunflowers.

We really, really, REALLY wanted to go jump with the kids... but we were too big...

So Jon practiced his roping skills instead!

There was a singing chicken show.

Hahaha.

Our favorite part was the girl scout and her chicken wings in front of us.

I tried my hardest... but Jon's duck won...

And we ended our trip with some pig races- awesome!

Ka-Razy!

I feel like I've blogged too much in the past couple of days...

 but I just had to share about the most twilight zone experience I've ever had.

 Too bad it didn't happen on Halloween. 

It was two days late.

So back up to Sunday- we found out that our shelf in our storage closet had collapsed and all our boxes were in disarray.

Monday I pulled everything out onto the balcony (our closet is outside) and put in a work order for them to come fix it.

Tuesday morning 2 am, we wake up to the LOUDEST thunder storm I've heard in all my life. 

I usually like thunder.

Not this kind!

It was making car alarms go off outside, no joke! 

Not to mention it was raining cats and dogs...

It's raining...

All our stuff is outside on the balcony!

So we made a run outside at 2 am to gather up all our soaking boxes.

We were wet to say the least.

We get back to bed.

Our alarms go off on our phones at 7 am.

We get up, get ready.

An hour later, Jon is ready to go to school and we look at the clock.... it's 7 am!

When our phones went off... it said 7 am.

An hour later... our phones said 7 am.

So weird.

Because We Can, Can, Can!

Well- since we can't seem to have kids right now...

May as well do something that we CAN do, right?

Let our world travels continue!

Spring Break 2011 will be to...

London, Paris and Rome.

We found a good deal... so we're going :)
