Dance, Dance, Dance

Two hours after getting back from Girls Camp,
we headed to University of Houston for our recital!
We had recital Friday night, woke up early Saturday, had dress rehearsals, and had ANOTHER recital Saturday evening.
Busy, busy.
We had lots of clogging dances... even a clogging duet... but didn't get any video or pics.
Oops.
Here are a few random pics from the day(s)...

I've Never Grown Up...

and find myself at Girls Camp every year.
I did it again, and loved every minute of it.
Once the Relief Society starts having awesome camps they go to...
I may consider going back.
But until then, I'll par-tay with the Young Women.
:)
We went up to Camp Cho-Yeh again
(about an hour north of Houston)
and had the time of our lives...
Air conditioning, snow cones, hot showers, meals prepared for you, zip lines, rocking chairs, blobs, water slides, bunk beds, rock climbing, rapelling, skits, ropes courses, crazy hair contests, archery...
how could you NOT have a good time?

Meet the girlies...

Ready for dinner!
Getting ready for our carnival game...
Step right up, step right up!
Play "Feed the Elder"...
stand at the line and toss plastic donuts into his mouth.
Genius.
It wouldn't be Texas if we didn't have some rain!
Photo booth fun
Braiding time
The girls favorite pastime?
Sitting on my bed, stealing my phone, taking pictures of themselves and eating candy...
Conference room festivities...

 All of our YW
The leaders put together a skit about inner beauty...
showcasing our outer ugliness VERY well ;)
And don't forget this amazing lake....
Ok so it's more like a mud hole- but it's the best mud hole I've ever been to!
 Down the zip line!
 My swimmer buddies
 Crazy hair show!
The evolution of Ale's hair...
Hanging out on the back porch, in our rocking chairs, sipping snow cones.
This is the life!
And a car ride home...
sadly it had to end.
Hopefully I'll be lucky enough to sneak in again next year, too!
Girls Camp is the best :)

Aruba, Jamaica, Ooooh I Wanna Take Ya!

Well hey there!
We went to a Beach Boys concert last night...
and it was awesome!!
We both grew up listening to the Beach Boys...
And even though they're in their upper 70's,
and some of them can't quite sing like they used to...
they put on a great show!!
We had lawn seats...
and the weather was perfect ALMOST perfect!
 77 degrees... light breeze...
with a little rain here and there.
There were lots of old men in their Hawaiian shirts...
we should have worn ours!

The show came to an end and I started to hyperventilate BECAUSE they hadn't played Kokomo yet! (Pretty much my all-time favorite song...)
But due to our loud, obnoxious, Texas-sized encore in the pouring rain,
they came back out.
And Kokomo it was!
YAY!
Here's a smattering of videos we took... Kokomo is at the end... everyone in the pouring rain.
I apologize before hand for our singing in the videos.
Turns out that when you take a video it's easier to pick up the sound inches away from the microphone than several hundred feet away.
Oopsie!
Now if I can just get Michael Jackson to come back to life, and the Beatles to go on tour- my concert going wishes would be complete
:)

A REAL Family Night...

Not gonna lie...
we are terrible at having Family Home Evening.
(What is Family Home Evening? Click here...)
This past school year,
I had dance class and Jon tutored every Monday night.
Thus- it never got done.
But today was the first day of summer- which lended itself to having an FHE!
Go us!
We listened to this...
Made and ate some of this...
and did a little of this...
Why, yes.
We do own roller-blades.
And yes, we are proud of it.
Even though Houston has turned into a death trap of heat and humidity...
We still managed to have a great time.
