Day 3
We had no problems waking up students...
we all kind of woke up early as jet lag seemed to be getting the better of us.
BUT don't we look cleaner than yesterday?
Hooray for showers!
And the sunrise was beautiful!
We packed up the bus and headed to Venice!
There is only one bridge that connects Venice to the mainland, and after the bridge you have to get out and take a water taxi to actually get IN to Venice.

And here we are!
The place was packed... as you can see.
Down side of summer travel is that it is tourist season!
Our first stop was at a glass-blowing demonstration which was amazing!
And then, of course they wanted us to buy stuff...
it was definitely beautiful, but a little outside our price range!
On to our guided sightseeing of Venice!
We wound around the small streets of Venice with our local tour guide.
She was full of great information.
One of the fun facts that I remember...
new buildings aren't allowed in Venice.
They stopped building new in 1760 (or somewhere around there)
and now they can only restore buildings.
Isn't that cool?
We ended with our tour guide at St. Mark's Square...
The students were enthralled by the pigeons...

They're like rats.
Oh well!

And the day STILL isn't over!
After our gondola ride we went over to the Doge's Palace to have a looksie.
The palace was the residence of the Doge of Venice, the supreme authority of the Republic of Venice.

We definitely got lost in the dungeons for a long time.
They make it hard to find your way out!
We were glad to finally get out!

And then it was back to the hotel for dinner...
Once again... we had no problems sleeping.
