Our Weekend...

This post isn't anything of momentous greatness- but just a simple post of what we were up to this past weekend...

How can it NOT be a great weekend when it starts with a Rock Band party?

Lots of friends came over to play- including Jon's friend from school, Chun Chen! He got LOTS of English practice that night :)

 

 Saturday we got to babysit for our friends, the Caywoods, while they went to the temple. 

Jon was a pro- maybe having kids isn't the WORST idea in the world ;)

Later that night we finished Lost Season 5 (with the Bradley's- fellow Lost lovers). We are now prepared for the Season 6 premiere on Tuesday!

 

Sunday rolled around and Jon and I spoke in church.... we did such a good job that they've asked us to never speak in public again ;) BUT we did have a REALLY great lunch, and even BETTER dinner!

We found a recipe for Cafe Rio foods and tried it out! It certainly wasn't the REAL deal, but it will hold me over until I get to Utah for some real stuff!

BUT dinner was even better! OUR dear friends the Ellsworths brought us a Papa Murphy's pizza back from their trip to Austin. Jon almost died and went to heaven! It's his most FAVORITE pizza in the WHOLE world and they don't have ANY stores here in Houston. Thanks Scott and Kim!!

New Car...

I should have blogged about this a while ago... but I forgot. Instead of watching the Rose Parade on New Years Day, we decided to buy a car! It was a long time coming... the Jeep we had just wasn't cutting it. It was GREAT to move us across country, but with my job about 20 miles away our 14 mpg was a serious issue! So we downgraded.... upgraded... whatever you wanna call it, and found ourselves a nice, little, used Toyota Corolla.

My new favorite pastime is filling up with gas and calculating our mpg.... Happy, happy day :)

Cloggers Rock!

Sooo- I dunno if you knew this about us... but we clog! Yeah, I know! Sounds a little hokey, huh? Well it's not! Clogging is cool! Just watch this video...

We picked this hobby up while on the BYU Folk Dance team, and have fallen in love with it. We joined a group down here in Texas, the Collective Sound Cloggers. And it seems like one thing has just led to another! Soon enough they asked us if we'd like to teach at the Texas Clogging Council Rally!
We didn't really know what we were getting into, but we taught an advanced class and brought our Utah clogging know-how to Texas cloggers.
We had a blast! We didn't get any pics of us teaching :( BUT here are some pics from the weekend.... on Saturday we clogged from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm... Oy....
Our feet were sooooo sore. We barely made it to church the next day...

Long day... and we were surely grateful to take this things off!

Pretty Darn Lucky...

So Jon came home from school today with a very bent up bicycle.... After freaking out with some "Are you ok, are you ok, are you ok?" 's, he told me the story. Riding down the street (downtown Houston, lots of traffic!) and Jon doesn't see a huge truck (they're everywhere in Texas) pulling out of a driveway (because of a huge sign that's blocking Jon's AND the driver's view) and slams on his break. Big truck is turning right, looking left, and never looks back right to see if it's still clear. Jon notices that the guy isn't looking his way and that the truck is still coming his way. Jon bails off the back of the bike and rolls to the grass (Mission Impossible Style), leaving his bike there to be crushed by monster truck.

Here is the damage...

Crunched up left handle bar, and a useless front wheel.

I'm just glad that Jon was paying attention and didn't barrel in front of the truck, expecting the driver to stop. I don't even wanna think about what could have happened.

One thing is for sure... I don't want him riding his bike anymore to and from school! I don't care if we use more gas to drive him- I'd like to keep my husband, thank you very much!

Cruisin'....

Yeah... well let's just say that EVERYONE should go on a cruise once in their life. We had a GREAT time. It was SOOO much fun and Jon was in heaven with all the food you could possibly eat. We definitely will be going again sometime soon :)

This is our insanely funny waiter, Luna. He sang and danced for us every night- HIL-AR-I-OUS!!

 Hahaha Jon will kill me for this pic BUT check out the choppy, gray waters behind him! This was our last day at sea... and it was a bumpy, woozy ride! We almost lost our groceries a couple of times...

With our towel animals... minus our bunny... Jon destroyed him on accident :(
