Top 10!

I guess it's been a while since I posted some top ten!
So here we go...

10.
Sometimes I forget how big our school is.
4,500 students, grades 9-12.
We have the 5th largest school in Texas!
That's huge!
No wonder I have gray hairs.

9.
Speaking of all these students...
a couple weeks ago we had a blood drive at our school.
Found out today that 40% of that blood couldn't be used because of STDs.
So sad...
But hey- that's my school!

 8.
"Miss! I found my tights OUTSIDE my locker so I can't dress out!"
"I'm not really understanding your logic... why can't you dress out?"
"Someone prolly wore my tights!"
"It's ok- just put them on."
"Miss! What if that person had chlamydia?!?!?!?!"
I laughed.
But now I'm realizing that she may have had a point after hearing about the blood drive results!

7.
Let's just keep going with this...
one of our students got TB this past month,
and thus the WHOLE student body had to be tested for TB.
Yes you got it.
All 4,500 students.
It was insane-o.

6.
This next statement just sums up the attitude of the majority of my students.
We have to make up two bad weather days this year...
one was this past Monday on President's Day.
When I asked my students about it they responded-
"I'm not coming! Why should I be punished because of the weather?"
And a lot of them didn't show up Monday!
They do what they want and think it's ok...
Oy.

5.
We had a Zumba class for one of our Dance Club activities this past month...
I had to sit out because I wasn't feeling well.
My janitor friend came in during it to take out our trash.
She immediately jumped in and told me how Hispanic music is the best for dancing.
She looked at me sitting down and said,
"You don't need to dance because you're so small.
What size are you anyway?"
"Umm... a 6?"
"Ohhh... well maybe you should be doing this then."
Gotta love blunt people.

4.
I learn new words everyday.
Apparently a girl who likes thicker boys is called a "chubby chaser".
Who knew?

3.
We started selling fruit snacks for our Dance Club fundraiser.
I was kind of appalled when one of my students told me she took her little brother with her to sell fruit snacks door to door, so people didn't think she was going to rape little kids.
Um, what?
Excuse me?

2.
I've had to give the hygiene talk to many a people...
but it hit a new all-time awkward when I had to give that hygiene talk to one of my only male students.
Gosh.
Boys can be smelly.

1.
"Miss, miss! I can't remember... is it 'above' or 'under' the influence?"
Hahaha.

Lots of Teens...

I just looked back through my pics of January...
and found lots of these guys.
It seems as if we spend our weekend with the youth.
Oh wait... we do.
May it continue!

Camping Season in Texas!

Ok well we may have jumped the gun on "camping season" in Texas.
Turns out January is still kind of cold.
And by cold we mean 50 degrees.
Hahaha.
Anyway! We had such a great time camping this past weekend!
Beach camping is seriously our favorite.
Light breeze. Beautiful sunsets. Beautiful scenery. No bugs. Light breeze. Sound of the ocean as you fall asleep. Beautiful sunrises.
Seriously- amazing.
Our little fire... we really were cold.
And it was only 50 degrees.
I can't believe we've become such wimps.
This girl is nearly nine months pregnant and she came camping- what a woman!
 Sunrise!
 Breakfast hash, mmmmm.....
We camped on Bolivar Island- which is just a short ferry ride away from Galveston.
The ferry ride always adds to the adventure.
Camping again next weekend, what?

Anniversary in San Francisco!

San Francisco has been on our "travel radar" for a while...
SO when a FIVE year anniversary, a BYU bowl game, and cheap flights all lined up perfectly- well we couldn't say "NO"!

So off to San Francisco we went!
I'll be honest...
sometimes I wish Jon and I were fairweather fans for BYU football.
It's painful to watch sometimes.
Like their past bowl game.
Although they lost-
we had great seats, it was a fun atmosphere, AND we got to hang out with great friends!
AND I'll let the video tell the rest of our San Francisco adventures!

A Stone Christmas!

Christmas is wonderful.
Enough said.
I can't imagine anything greater than eating pounds of sweets, and spending time with family.
It's da best.

We jetted out Saturday morning over to St. George!
After a quick lil' flight-
 We separated- boys and girls...
Girls went shopping and got pedicures.
Boys ate steak, went shooting, and played Risk.
Sunday was Christmas for us while we were all together!
We had an amazing Christmas dinner, made cake pops, and played lots of games.
We were even able to catch up with some old friends!
We spent quality time with each other...
all on our own electronic gadgets ;)
Ok, ok... we really do know how to talk to each other.
Monday and Tuesday everyone took off...
but we had some extra time to hang out in St. George!
We Cafe Rio'd it up...
Went to the temple...
And sang songs on "real" Christmas Eve at the tabernacle!
I always get kind of depressed once Christmas passes...
but cheers that it comes around each year!!
MERRY CHRISTMAS!
