City of Love- Day 2

OMG- I don't think my feet have ever hurt so bad in my life!
We walked ALL day long... like 8 am until 10 pm.
Ouch!
We got up early and headed to Versailles...
BUT first we had some French breakfast!
Croissants with nutella= heaven!
(for your mouth, not your waistline)
 On the train to Versailles...
At the Golden Gates- which were brilliant in the morning because they face the east.
 So beautiful!
 Looking out to the gardens...

This King Louis guy was just over the top.
Everything in his palace is just ridiculously lavish...
here are many pictures to illustrate :)
His chapel...
 Gold door- no big deal.
 All the ceilings were incredible!
 King Louis himself
Ummm yeah... beautiful.
Hall of Mirrors
 Louis's bedroom
 Queen's bedroom...
Everything is so elegant and covered in gold!
 Now on to the gardens...
His palace was HUGE- 720,000 square feet, he could house 20,000 people there at once.
But his gardens make his palace look minuscule in comparison.
Nearly 1,000 acres.
HUGE.
See that body of water way out there?
Yeah, still a part of his gardens.
He'd practice naval warfare out there...
meaning full fledged war ships in his backyard!
Who is this guy?

 The Temple of Love :)
A lot of the "small" palaces out in the garden were for Marie Antionette to get away from Louis.
She thought the French Royalty scene was lavishly ridiculous and pompous.
Hmmm... you think?
Taking a break by the huge lake...
And even took a nap in the sun.
 We did sooo much walking.
But it was an incredible place!
 Oh Versailles...
 Back into Paris!
Here's my little hunchback :)
 Sooo massive.
 Beautiful stained glass
Found a cute little cafe to dine like a Parisian.
 Quiche...
 and lamb chops!
Oh and don't forget the "french" fries ;)
WHERE can we buy a Nutella jar that big?
We want it :)
Crepe with Nutella... also = heaven
Ok so pretty much anything with Nutella is wonderful.
Basilica Sacre Couer... also very beautiful.
The Basilica is up on a hill, which SHOULD afford a wonderful view of Paris.
But it was kind of hazy/smoggy/foggy that night.
Dang.
So we went back to the Eiffel Tower because every night on the hour...
 It sparkles!
On to Day 3...
